Riding Club
About Us
What is a Riding Club ?
The main aim of the riding clubs movement is to promote and encourage care, riding, and enjoyment of the horse plus friendship and fun. The British Riding Clubs organisation is nation wide and is run under the umbrella of the British Horse Society. It is divided into areas and we are area 15, one of 18 clubs in the Midlands alone. Each area runs competitions in all disciplines-dressage,show jumping, hunter trials and one day events at novice and open standards. Members may enter as an individual or as part of a team representing their club. Each discipline has a qualifier competition for the national championships held in August each year.
H&DRC hires a field at Allensmore three miles south of Hereford on the A465 where most of our summer activities take place. Winter shows have to be scheduled around the area where an arena can be hired. This inevitably makes such events expensive to run so you will find we are most active from April to September.
We offer a range of activities at all levels some of which are restricted to members only.
The Club awards a number of trophies for various competitions and achievements, which are presented each year at the Annual Ball.
Training sessions are held regularly thoughout the year. These are designed to help both horse and rider, regardless of age and stage of training, in small friendly groups. A small charge is levied for these sessions, and the dates can be found on the Events page.
